PSSC 2020
Ah, a day that was perfect in its imperfection! The forecast was for rain, so yes, we got some sprinkles but oh, darn it, plenty more sunshine. Lightning here and there to keep things (naturally) interesting, with wind that was moderate, not overwhelming, predominantly from the south at first, then refreshingly from the north. Gorgeous silhouettes of the Olympic Mountains to the west, Shilshole to the east, Vashon Island well to the south, and to the north? Super dark clouds displaying an incredible horizon-to-horizon rainbow, providing an unparalleled background for fleets that were numerous and not, young and old, fast and slow, skilled and newbies, familiar faces and not so, and a blend of new owners with veterans of the race course. Oh, throw in starting lines of extraordinary horizon-to-horizon length, plus some never-before-seen mark boat stability challenges, and it all adds up to, well, business as (un)usual on the Sound!
