Race to the Straits 2022
Okay, so just WHO in the heck ordered the breeze for this weekend? Going from GB to PB (Gear-Busting to Patience-Busting), WW to SS (Wet-and-Wild to Sunny-but-Slow), perhaps this year's RTTS should be nicknamed RWWS (Really Weird Weather Sailing). We all experienced a reality check this weekend, with clear proof of that which true sailors are keenly aware: sometimes it blows, and sometimes it sucks :) The fleet sure got a workout in the bumpy stuff Saturday, BUT with a fresh water boat wash (downpour!) / PhotoBoat topside cleaning bonus at Foul Weather Bluff, AND an unanticipated spectator boat (U.S. aircraft carrier) passing by and pausing (at PhotoBoat's insistent request over VHF radio, BTW) to carefully regard the sailing fleet, it was mostly good, despite the weird SCWWtTC (Salty-Calamitous-Wild-Weather-to-Tame-Conditions). Hope you enjoy these photos!
